MONCKS CORNER, SC – A four-vehicle collision claimed the lives of two people Wednesday, according to WCSC.

At around 9 p.m., the driver of a Volkswagen sedan rear-ended a Chevy pickup truck on Hwy 17A SB. The collision sent the truck into a Buick SUV and the Volkswagen into a ditch. A Ford sedan then collided with the pickup truck.

First rsponders pronounced the the driver and passenger inside the Buick, Rosa Wilson, 65, and Mizzie Wilson, 43, dead at the scene of the accident. They then transported three people from the Ford and the driver of the Chevy pickup truck to an area hospital in unknown condition.

Officers arrested Joseph Hass and charged him with two counts of felony DUI and DUI resulting in Great Bodily Injury. It is unclear which vehicle Hass was driving at the time of the collision.

The incident is under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol’s Multi-disciplinary Accident Investigation Team.
