COLUMBIA, SC – Two people were hurt when two trains collided with one another on the 2000 block of American Italian Way Monday.

According to ABC Columbia, first responders were called to the scene of the accident around 8:20 a.m. They transported the engineers from both trains to an area hospital in unknown condition.

A diesel fuel spill resulting from the collision is being cleared by the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control.

The incident is being investigated by the Federal Railroad Administration.
