NORTH CHARLESTON, SC – According to WCBD, a person was critically injured in a boating accident on Cooper River near the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center Saturday.
Nicholas Francesco Zuccala, 39, was operating a boat when he collided with a dredge boat, dredge buoy, and tend boat at around 7:30 p.m. The collision sent four people into the Cooper River.
The North Charleston Fire Department rescued one person, the dredge boat saved another, and a good Samaritan rescued two people.
Rescue crews transported one of the four people to an area hospital in critical condition.
Authorities arrested Zuccala, 39, and charged him with boating under the influence.
