CHARLESTON, SC – A school bus driver and five students were sent to an area hospital this morning after a car struck their bus, WCSC reports.

The collision happened at about 7:15 a.m. Wednesday on Paul Cantrell Boulevard, right before it turns into Glenn McConnell Parkway.

A district spokesperson said 13 students were on the bus at the time of the incident.

Emergency response vehicles blocked several lanes in the area, causing traffic to build up.
