RAVENEL, SC – The two people who were killed in a drunk driving accident on Hwy 165 near Shilelagh Oaks Pkwy Sunday have been identified.
According to WCSC, Jose Ramirez-Sandoval, 29, was drivig a GMC pickup truck north on Hwy 165 when he crossed over into the southbound lanes and collided head-on with a van around 1 a.m.
First responders pronounced the van’s two occupants Daniel Middleton, 47, and Renee Rutledge, 52, dead at the scene of the accident.
Deputies gave Ramirez-Sandoval a field sobriety test, which he failed. He was then charged with two counts of felony DUI resulting in death.
