News: Driver flees fatal crash on I-26 in north Charleston

CHARLESTON, SC – All eastbound lanes of I-26 were shut down following a fatal hit-and-run in north Charleston early this morning.

According to a report by WCSC, the collision occurred at about 12:44 a.m. on I-26 east, near the Dorchester Road overpass.

Troopers say a Porsche SUV and a Kia SUV collided while they were both heading east on the freeway.

Both occupants in the Kia were taken to a nearby hospital, where the driver died a short time later. The driver of the Porche fled the scene on foot.
