NORTH CHARLESTON, SC – A driver was traveling at 95 mph in a 35 mph zone when he caused a fatal seven-car crash at Rivers Ave and Cosgrove Ave on July 29.

According to WBTW, James Hart rear-ended a car at around 8:30 a.m. The impact propelled the vehicle into the intersection where it struck five other vehicles.

Two people, a grandmother and her 4-year-old grandson, died in the collision. An unknown number of people were also injured in the crash.

Authorities arrested Hart on two counts of reckless homicide.
