RIDGEWAY, SC – A man was killed Friday morning after colliding head-on with a tractor-trailer in Fairfield County.
According to WLTX, the crash occurred around 4 p.m. as the driver of a 2015 Acura MDC was heading south I-77 and crossed into the oncoming lanes near mile marker 44.
The Acura then slammed head-on into an oncoming tractor-trailer, pinning the driver inside.
The unidentified man was extricated from his vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. The truck driver suffered injuries deemed non-life-threatening.
It is unclear what caused the victim to drift into the northbound lanes of the interstate.
