HORRY COUNTY, SC -According to WMBF, a former math teacher was sentenced to prison for a fatal drunk driving accident on Carolina Forest Blvd near Stafford Dr on Oct. 25, 2021.

Michael Oerther, 54, was driving a Jeep Wrangler while impaired when he slammed into the back of a Honda Civic driven by Leza Watts, 27, that was stopped at a traffic light.

Oerther pleaded guilty to reckless homicide. Honorable Circuit Judge Bentley Price sentenced Oerther to 8 years in prison.
