LITTLE MOUNTAIN, SC – A semi-truck driver was hurt when a gas tanker truck overturned on SC 202 between US 76 and I-26 Monday morning.

According to WLTX, the truck was hauling 7,000 gallons of petroleum product when it veered off the road, hit a power pole, and overturned sometime before 7:30 a.m.

First responders transported the driver to an area hospital with unspecified injuries.

Some of the gas leaked into the environment, forcing residents in the surrounding 1/4 mile to evacuate. Power was also knocked out for some time following the crash as crews worked to repair the power pole.

Cleanup crews were able to contain the fuel leak and all lanes were reopened by 2:15 p.m.
