RICHLAND COUNTY, SC -According to WLTX, a driver crashed into multiple pedestrians at Fairfield Rd and Eisenhower Dr Saturday.
Carl Giles, 64, drove into a crowd of people Saturday afternoon before fleeing the area. First responders pronounced Dr. Sonya Lewis, 56, dead at the scene and transported two other victims to an area hospital.
Following the collision, people from the group that was attacked chased down Giles as he drove down a nearby street.
Authorities apprehended Giles and charged him with hit-and-run resulting in death, reckless vehicular homicide, hit-and-run resulting in great bodily injury, and hit-and-run resulting in minor personal injury.
