AIKEN COUNTY, SC – According to WIS, a male driver died after slamming into a tree on Dry Branch Rd near Odom St Sunday.
John Ways, 31, was driving a Ford Mustang south on Dry Branch Rd when he went off the road and plowed into a tree around 4:20 a.m. The Mustang then caught on fire.
Bystanders pulled Ways from the burning vehicle. Rescue crews pronounced him dead at the scene of the accident.
The incident is under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Aiken County Coroner’s Office.
