LADSON, SC – Officials have released the name of the pedestrian fatally struck by a car at Hwy 78 near Mason Pond Pl on August 7, according to WCSC.
William Jerod Grant, 38, was driving a Kia sedan west on Hwy 78 when he crossed into the eastbound lanes of traffic and hit Samantha Hines, 18, as she was walking west at around 8:30 a.m.
Rescue crews transported Hines to an area hospital, where she died the next day.
Authorities have charged Grant with driving on the wrong side of the road, violation of a beginner’s permit, simple possession of marijuana and possession of contraband.
