LITTLE RIVER, SC – A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on Highway 17 on Tuesday night, WBTW reports.

Horry County officials responded around 8:45pm to the area of Highway 17 and Eastport Boulevard on Tuesday, January 18.

The incident caused lanes of traffic to be blocked while authorities responded. Motorists were asked to find an alternative route.

One person was injured and taken to a local hospital. It is unknown what the condition of their injuries is.

The crash is being investigated by the South Carolina Department of Public Safety.
