LADSON, SC – According to WCSC, a driver struck and injured a pedestrian on Hwy 78 near Mason Pond Pl Sunday.
William Jerod Grant, 38, was driving a Kia sedan west on Hwy 78 when he strayed into the eastbound lanes and struck the pedestrian walking west on the eastbound shoulder at around 8:30 a.m.
Rescue crews transported the victim to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Authorities arrested Grant for violation of a beginner’s permit, driving on the wrong side of the road, and multiple drug charges. He is being held in the Al Cannon Detention Center.
The incident is under investigation by the Traffic Services Unit of the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office.
